Eagles finally get big wide receiver, but will he make the cut?

eaglesGetting a big wide receiver, something that the Eagles red zone offense has needed for years has finally happened. Trading a sixth round pick and a conditional pick in 2014 for Arrelious Benn. Benn played the last 3 seasons with Tampa Bay catching 59 passes for 862 yards and 5 touchdowns over three seasons. At 6-2 and 220 pounds Benn’s size and his success last season at returning kicks 23.5 yard average, you can at least pencil him in as the Eagles kick returner this season. Injuries last season to his shoulder and knee limited his time and ultimately made him expendable in Tampa who has the big body and name receiver Vincent Jackson.

At 24, Benn is a safe trade for the Eagles with more upside then down. Known for his physical play, he should be able to earn the roster spot competingĀ for Jason Avant or Riley Coopers. The only way Benn doesn’t make the roster is if his injuries last season continue to plague him. Definitely and upgrade for special teams the trade on paperĀ gets an A grade.
