Imagining Allen Iverson playing with the Sixers again certainly sounds great considering the state of the team today. At 37, Iverson would obviously be a role player if he was to return. After turning down the Mavericks offer to play in the D-league with the Texas Legends, Iverson’s manager Gary Moore was in Philadelphia visiting Sixer owner Josh Harris about reconnecting Iverson with the Sixers. Moore has said that there are no immediate plans for Iverson to retire so what could that mean? Only that one of the greatest Sixers ever believes he has something left and after turning down the D-league offer, believes that is still in the NBA.
The visit and attempt to reconnect with the Sixers, could be more of an attempt at getting Iverson some role with the team as a consultant or assistant. The Sixers since Harris has taken over has shown affection for Sixer history bringing back Julius Erving as a strategic advisor. If Iverson were to officially retire, maybe then he could return to the franchise where he had his greatest success.
If the Sixers continue on with this level of play, lets bring him back! A few games of excitement seeing him on the court would be fantastic and closing out his career with the Sixers….very fitting.
